inklesspw Solo overdubbed ambient trombone, a little bit jazz, a little bit Appalachian. really lovely. Clausen plays trombone in The Westerlies, a wonderful contemporary brass quartet; this album is his lockdown therapy and it's well worth a listen. Favorite track: 3.2.21 (for Bill Frisell).

about

For the past several months, I have attempted to record daily improvisations/etudes/or little studies I write. It has been a small but meaningful point of refuge during an otherwise stressful period.

I have long been crippled by fear of sharing things before they are “done.” But recent events have shifted my thinking a bit, and yesterday I decided to compile a handful of recent pieces into the following volume for Bandcamp Friday.

I have always been fascinated with artist sketches, particularly for visual artists, to see the work in its most raw form, and observe iterations of an idea get refined and explored over time.

This is my version of a sketchbook. In all its rawness, imperfection, and weirdness. To be continued and updated regularly. Hope you enjoy hearing the process.

Love,
Andy Clausen
